u gotta believe

its been a busy week...

starts off with the aquistion of the Senators' top blueliner; Wade Redden is gonna be a stud...steady 5 on 5, a perfect set-up man for Rozival on the PP, and a guy who can log huge minutes on the PK as well...Redden has underachieved the last few years ( no thanks to the state of the Ottawa dressing room) his leadership is just what the Blueshirts needed. Maybe an Alternate captain?

then we get hit with Averys' signing in Dallas...its gonna take a while for me to figure out why Sean left for the big D, but with his ties to Brett Hull in Detroit ( hullie supposedly took Avery under his wing) is wasn't that far fetched a situation. Averys' energy will be missed and his ability to pester the opposing team has to be matched by some other Ranger in the upcoming year. Ryan Callahan?

Zherdev and Fritche? absolutly brilliant! Zherdev has had a tough time adjusting to the style of play in his first few seasons...he played with an absolute puck-hog in CBJ...he will have an outstanding campaign with the likes of Scotty G. feeding him the puck... Z's speed and golden hands will have the Garden rocking... Dan Fritche has a lot of potential as a two way force for years to come. He had a great junior career and i expect steady play from him.

Markus Naslund? come on...what hasn't this guy done besides win the Stanley Cup? 40 goal seasons, flash and pizass, etc. He has underachieved the past few seasons in Vancouver, but things haven't been right there since Crawford sent Bert after Moore and the Burkie left...he's played with and overrated Brendan Morrison forever and a change is gonna give him the rejuvenated passion he has been so desperatly seeking...i expect him to fill right in for the dearly departed #68.

overall, the Rangers have made a huge impact splash on the Eastern Front...they have gotten better in all aspects...Redden and Kalinin are awesome pick-ups on the back end and Naslund, Zherdev and Fritche will fit in nicely up front...it will be fun for Tom Renny to mix and match these guys into his lineup over the next few months...

in closing I would like to say that i believe it is Chris Drurys' rightful time to don the "C"

Go Rangers

  • Its almost like fielding a new team. I'm anxious to see what Renny can do with these guys.

  • Well wrritten. On most things, I agree...BUT; I think you're over-rating Naslund. If Shanny doesn't get the "C", I absolutly agree it should go to Drury. Other than Sather's miss-handling of Avery's situation, I can't complain about the new Rangers. Our lack of SIZE up front was obvious. I do think Slats should be held responsible for letting Avery, such a talented fan favorite, get away.

  • I just dont respect Sather. Jagr brought this team to the playoffs after a long slump, and just to say "we are moving in another direction" like that?

  • I agree! Dru is my favorite! He will make a great Rangers captain! It was pretty funny, my husband suggested a weekend getaway to Dallas...I nearly threw up lol
